What is BETSIE?
BETSIE stands for BBC Education Text to Speech Internet Enhancer. It was created by the BBC to allow easier access to the Internet for people using text to speech systems and it works by converting web pages into graphic free, text only versions.
How to use BETSIE on this website?
BETSIE is not available on every page of our website. On pages where BETSIE is enabled, simply click on "Text Only" which is mainly situated at the top of pages. The graphic free version will appear on screen.
To change the settings of a text only page, click on "Change Text Only Settings" at the bottom of the page.
To switch back to the graphics version of a page, click on "Graphic version of this page" at the bottom of the page.
